Jamba!, one of the largest mobile content providers whose controlling stake has been recently bought by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, launched a new video exchange service in Germany a few days ago. By means of this free service, users may publish videos recorded by video cameras and mobile phones, browse them, rate them, and exchange videos with friends. This video blogging service application has been developed in St. Petersburg by the specialists at Exigen Services.
The application has WWW and WAP interfaces, is compatible with most popular browser versions, and supports the most popular video formats, MPEG, AVI, and MOV, which are converted into the .3gp video file format for mobile phones using the MediaSpire technology. Stream broadcasting is organized on the basis of Helix Server, a streaming server by Real Networks. The software is highly scalable and has the capabilities for integration with other resources and country-specific customization. It functionality may be easily extended: the technology built into the system allows for a quick modernization.
Cooperation between Exigen Services and Jamba! started in February 2006 from the development of RingBack Tones service application, allowing the users to set a favorite melody to be played to callers instead of the usual long beeps. This service has been successfully commissioned and steadily operating for over 10 months, Exigen Services providing round-the-clock support and hosting services.
