SOA enablement

Aligning business requirements with an IT infrastructure based on SOA is a long-term process that has to be carefully planned and requires practical knowledge an organization new to SOA may not possess. Standard SOA trainings typically provide some background; but IT groups still will have to figure out how to apply this theory to the specific enterprise ecosystem, delaying tangible benefits for the business.

In order to address this challenge, Exigen Services has developed an SOA Enablement Program, which is focused on transferring our expertise to the customer’s IT department, utilizing the "learn by doing" approach. The specifics of this process – though tailored for each customer – usually include the following stages:

1. SOA Program Goal Identification – a workshop structured to identify the major organizational drivers of the SOA program and define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
2. Target Definition – we capture the current state of the enterprise IT systems, develop the reference target architecture and create an SOA transition plan
3. Pilot Project Execution – Exigen Services directs the execution of the project, providing leadership, knowledge, and expertise
4. Handover – the customer's IT staff takes ownership for managing future SOA projects

The Exigen Services SOA Enablement Process defines a roadmap that includes a detailed description of deliverables and budget for each step. Upon successful completion, in-house resources will be able to drive future SOA program, demonstrating business value to the business sponsors.
